Membership in Northern Pagan Church is a commitment to shared values, respectful conduct, and the well-being of our community. This agreement exists to help ensure that our gatherings, discussions, and shared spaces remain welcoming, safe, and grounded in honor.
By participating as a member, you affirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the following.
1. Shared Foundations
Members are expected to have a basic understanding of the Sacred Tree as the theological and ethical framework of Northern Pagan Church, including:
- The Roots – Honor, Hospitality, and Sovereignty
- The Trunk – Life, Growth, and Death
- The Branches – Spirits, Ancestors, and Gods
Membership does not require uniform belief, but it does require respect for this framework and the values it represents.
2. Membership Expectations
As a member of Northern Pagan Church, I agree to:
- Engage with the community in good faith and with mutual respect
- Take responsibility for my words, actions, and presence
- Respect the sovereignty, boundaries, and lived experiences of others
- Participate in ways appropriate to my capacity, understanding that all participation is voluntary
Membership is a relationship, not a transaction. There are no required dues, though members are encouraged to support the church as they are able.
3. Code of Conduct
Northern Pagan Church is committed to maintaining spaces that are welcoming, inclusive, and free from harm.
Members agree to:
- Treat all people with dignity and respect
- Refrain from harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or coercion
- Respect differences of belief, practice, identity, and experience
- Avoid disruptive, aggressive, or manipulative behavior
Harassment or harm based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or family structure will not be tolerated.
4. Consent and Boundaries
Consent is foundational to all community interactions.
Members agree to:
- Obtain clear consent before physical contact, spiritual work involving others, or personal discussions
- Respect stated and implied boundaries
- Accept “no” without pressure, persuasion, or retaliation
Consent may be withdrawn at any time and must be honored immediately.
5. Safety and Gatherings
Many church activities take place outdoors and in shared community spaces.
Members agree to:
- Follow all safety instructions given by event hosts or leaders
- Dress appropriately for weather and terrain
- Use fire, tools, and ceremonial items responsibly and only when permitted
- Supervise children and dependents in their care
Anyone who is impaired, unsafe, or unwilling to follow safety guidelines may be asked to step away from an activity.
6. Online and Digital Spaces
This agreement applies equally to:
- Online discussions
- Social media spaces
- Email lists, Discord servers, and virtual gatherings
Members agree to engage respectfully, avoid personal attacks, and uphold the same standards of conduct online as in person.
7. Conflict and Accountability
Conflict is a natural part of community life. When concerns arise, Northern Pagan Church seeks resolution rooted in fairness, clarity, and restoration.
Members agree to:
- Address conflicts directly and respectfully when possible
- Bring unresolved concerns to church leadership
- Accept guidance, mediation, or corrective action when necessary
Leadership reserves the right to pause participation, revoke membership, or restrict access when behavior is harmful to individuals or the community.
8. Oath-Bound and Leadership Paths
Some members may choose to pursue deeper commitments, including oath-bound membership or leadership roles.
These paths involve additional expectations, training, and accountability, and are entered into voluntarily.
Participation in Northern Pagan Church does not require oath-bound status.
9. Agreement and Affirmation
By registering as a member of Northern Pagan Church, I affirm that:
- I have read and understand this Membership, Conduct, and Safety Agreement
- I agree to uphold these expectations to the best of my ability
- I understand that membership is a privilege grounded in mutual respect
I enter this community in a spirit of honor, hospitality, and shared responsibility.
